You Burnt the House Down

And so it ends.
Like the cool whisper of an Autumn wind
Change afoot
The healing begins

Let the drift carry
Me into the next plane
Muster the courage
Get in the game

Grab the reigns
Of that passing windstream
Ever the same
Yet still unknowing

Hovering over the edge
Faith jump and fly
Goodbye burning bed
No one loved you more than I

Alone At Sea

Nothingness for miles
Waves bubbling up around
Barnacle-free boat
Vultures who make calculated
Squawking appearances
Then disappear into the distance

The shore is long behind
Barely a memory
The destination unknown, fuzzy, unhopeful
The compass
Spinning wildly out of control
Panic, emptiness sets in

For the first time
Uneasiness about how to survive
Afraid of the first test
Others have died simply walking
Completely alone
Sailing on a wide open sea
Away from the before
And towards
Not sure

The deaths have shortened perspective
Of the length of life
Suddenly
Tomorrow could be it
Panic, as regret sets in
Stymied
The days float by
